Getting Started: Send Your First SMS in Under 5 Minutes

Welcome to SMS Localhost! This guide will walk you through the essentials — from signing up to sending your very first branded SMS. It's easier than you think.

Step 1 — Create Your Account

Head to the Sign Up page and create your account with email and password, or sign in with Google, GitHub, Microsoft, or LinkedIn. You'll receive 1 free SMS credit to get started.

Step 2 — Set Up Your Organisation

After logging in, you'll be prompted to create an organisation. This is where all your SMS activity, contacts, and billing live. Give it your business name.

Step 3 — Register a Sender ID

A Sender ID is the name that appears on the recipient's phone (e.g. "ACME" instead of a random number). Go to Senders and type your desired name (1-11 alphanumeric characters), then click Request.

Sender IDs require approval from mobile network operators in Zimbabwe. This usually takes 1-3 business days. Your first Sender ID is free.

Step 4 — Send Your First Message

Once your Sender ID is approved, go to Send Message:

1. Select SMS as the channel
2. Choose your approved Sender ID from the dropdown
3. Enter the recipient's phone number (e.g. 0771234567)
4. Type your message in the message box
5. Click Send Message
